In most cases, yes! Vivid shades require a clean, lightened canvas to show their true vibrancy—much like painting on a white canvas versus brown paper. If your hair is naturally light or already bleached, we can often apply color directly. For darker hair, Paris will gently lift your base using bond-protective lighteners, always prioritizing your hair’s health and integrity over rushing the process.

It depends on your hair history! Virgin (never-colored) hair or naturally lighter hair can often reach the target shade in a single session. However, if you have layers of previous dark dye, box color, or metallic salts, it may take 2 or more sessions to lift safely without causing damage. During your mandatory consultation, Paris will assess your hair fabric and map out an honest, realistic timeline.

The secret to long-lasting vivids is all in your at-home routine! We recommend:

Washing your hair in cold water to keep the cuticle sealed.
Limiting washes to 1–2 times per week (dry shampoo is your best friend!).
Using sulfate-free, color-safe shampoos and professional moisture masks.
Keeping heat styling to a minimum and always applying a high-grade heat protectant.

Please arrive with clean, 100% dry hair that is free of heavy styling products, root sprays, or oils (washing 24 hours prior is ideal). Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a stray drop of pigment on—we take every precaution with capes and towels, but vivid colors love to travel!
